I can now call myself a successful niche website creator. Hooray for me!
My site, Obamadales.com has now made me over $20 in less than 2 weeks–double my measly $10 investment. Better yet, Obamadales.com seems to be growing stronger each day.
What have I learned thus far during my adventure?
1. I was a complete idiot for believing that I had to wait to get an Adsense account to start playing the niche game–a mistake that cost me 5 months of earning potential. Instead, my advice to all bloggers out there is that all you need is any good product(s) that have a good affiliate program to feel comfortable experimenting with niche sites. In my case, Amazon has provided me with 90% of my earnings with Adsense providing only 10%.
2. My idea of “testing” niche sites on your sidebar via use of a page (so that you don’t make your blog a series of spammy posts) was a good one. I noticed that many of my pages containing the word Obama were generating some decent google traffic, so I figured I could easily capitalize on this trend with a domain name featuring Obama’s name.
3. Including a couple of “legit” posts (see my latest entitled Obama’s First Mistakes helped me gain some quick backlinks and I’m sure helped me get some google traffic.
What didn’t work?
1. I tried to take advantage of a blogging tip that I had read on several prominent blogs. This tip was to check Google Trends and see what the top 100 search terms for the day. On Inauguration Day, the top 100 was littered with variations of “Inauguration Schedule” so I tried to name a couple of posts with these variations to capture some of this enormous traffic. The result. . . I didn’t get a single google hit via these posts. These search terms just had way too much competition for a 2 week old site to compete.
Man, what a well set-up website!
haha…keep rockin’ it out dude! it’s only a matter of time until we’re on the beach playing beer pong and counting our Benjamins
perhaps you should do research first on the site which is popular, I think obama is not too popular.
I had no idea that Amazon could be a better source of income. I’m basically stuck on adsense now but maybe it’s about time I start exploring other income streams
