How to waste money

While driving to work today, I witnessed a guy who must have thought that he would get extra points for being the first to arrive at a red light. On two occasions, his car actually jolted back since he had to break so hard to come to a stop. This guy also insisted to anticipate each green light and accelerate faster than his imaginary competitor in the next lane. I laughed to myself, thinking about how much gas and money he was wasting. As a result, I will use today’s post to list other ways to waste money.

1. Smoke Cigarettes–in so many ways
2. Do all your drinking at a bar/club–its called pre-gaming and its fun and saves you money.
3. Pay interest on a credit card.
4. Frequent vending machines
5. Pay ATM fees
6. Get your oil changed every 3,000 miles–Most manufactures now say 5000-7500 miles is optimal
7. Going to Car Washes–If you really like your car that much, don’t let a stranger or machine touch it.

8. Purchasing an Extended Warranty–not really necessary
9. Duplicating Long Distance–have a cell phone, then you don’t need it on your house phone
10. Buy every new DVD that comes out–I have seen some very impressive DVD collections, but how often will you actually watch those movies?
11. Keep most of your money in a checking account. If you haven’t heard of ING or CD’s you are a F-O-O-L.
12. Fail to take advantage of your company’s retirement plan match
13. Download the latest song to use as your cell phone ring–this was cool for about 2 months
14. Go crazy buying bulk–Are you really going to eat all the stuck-together and stale Fruit Loops that are at the bottom of that 3 pound box you bought that saved you 18 cents??

15. Not use the store brand aluminum foil, plastic wrap, bleach and other such items–how could they possible be that different from the brand names??
16. Use a Coin Star machine to redeem your coins–you lose 9% of your money unless you turn it into a gift card.

Let’s make this list bigger. Leave me a comment with any other ways that people waste their money. Fire away!!!

Well I smoke, and I know it is a waste of money. So in light of that.

Everything is a waste of money if it is either:

    a) not making you money
    b) not providing you with housing
    c) not providing you with clothes (and this is theory)
    b) not providing you with food

Cable TV waste money. You will never watch 200+ channels.
