Many Americans seek financial advice from people like Suzie Orman or Dave Ramsey. But do we really need these so called experts to steer us in the right financial direction? I say No! Instead, I believe that we are deluged with good financial advice everyday and we don’t even realize it. Case in point, consider these Disney Movies and the financial messages that are intertwined within their plots.
Swiss Family Robinson–Lose your home because of a foreclosure? Don’t panic, take your family to a deserted island and make your own tree house and live off the land. For extra income, accept offshore bets on your ostrich/zebra/elephant races. Just be on the watch for pirate attacks!!
Bambi–Lower your food bills by doing a little recreational hunting.
Enchanted–Credit cards can be more powerful than a fairy godmother in preparing a princess for the ball. In addition, if you are really short of cash and need some new clothes, take a look at your curtains.
Duck Tales–Be nice to your uncle, just in case he is filthy rich.
A Goofy Movie–Maybe it wasn’t a good idea for our economy to elect George W. Bush twice 
Mary Poppins–You don’t need a Coach or Louis Vuitton Handbag to make a great fashion statement. Also, you should protect your investment in your house by getting your chimney swept once a year.
Pinocchio–If you don’t have a money to buy a baby from a 3rd world country, just make one out of wood and hope for the best.
Invincible–Bar tenders and professional football players truly have recession proof jobs.
Ratatouille–Pets are not always a financial liability and make sure to keep your will in more than one location with more than one person.
High School Musical 2–Summer jobs are a great way for teens to make money for college.
Lady and the Tramp–Don’t let being in completely different tax brackets get in the way of true love.
The Princess Diaries–Investing in Genovian pears might be a wise decision.
Toy Story–Don’t spend too much money on that “must have” new toy, since it will quickly fall out of favor and be replaced with the next “must have” toy–or a puppy.
Wall-E–One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure.
101 Dalmations–Getting your pet spayed or neutered can save you tons of money on pet food and vet visitis.
