Wikipedia defines a splog as: “an artificially created weblog sites which the author uses to promote affiliated websites or to increase the search engine rankings of associated sites. The purpose of a splog can be to increase the PageRank or backlink portfolio of affiliate websites, to artificially inflate paid ad impressions from visitors, and/or use the blog as a link outlet to get new sites indexed.”

By that defination, just about every blog that I read has at least a little splog in it. After all, it is all about the Benjamin’s–most people get into personal finanace blogging to make money. As far as The Red Stapler Chronicles goes, I have definately had my share of “splog posts” (See the CashCrate post as an example). In fact, I probably have had too many of these types of post. I now think that this is a mistake that most new bloggers make since these type of splog posts are the only way to generate money. Now that I have taken the next step in the blogging world and secured my own domain name and host, I will be able to make money with ads and will be able to focus on more meaningful content. Will there ocassionally still be a splog like entry? You better believe it–but they will occurr with much less frequency. The Red Stapler Chronicles focus topics will be:

1. Sharing blogging tips that I come across–learning about blogging from experts like Shoemoney and John Chow is like trying to get a drink of water from a high pressure fire hydrant. Hopefully getting advice from a fellow newbie like me, will mean a little more.
2. Discussion on how I a making money on the internet–whether it be from this blog or other programs. Hey, with today’s economy, who could not use some extra cash.
3. My hatred of my job, being cheap, and any other topics I find interesting.

Loved your insight!! For once someone got everything correct!! Would you mind if I put a blogroll link back to your post?
