Say it ain’t so Entrecard!

When I checked my email today, I was greeted with a rather shocking message. It was from “deleted@entrecard.com” and the subject read “Your entrecard account has been deleted.” After throwing up in my mouth, I quickly opened the email and read the following message:

“your account ‘The Red Stapler Chronicles’ on entrecard.com has been deleted. The administrator gave the following reason:
Rule 10: http://entrecard.com/docs/doku.php?id=blog_quality_standards
Please contact deleted@entrecard.com if you have any questions regarding this action.”

entrecard sucks

After carefully reading Entrecard’s quality standards and determining that I in no way come close to violating them, I emailed entrecard asking for a further explanation. About a half hour later, this is what I got:

Please read the explanation
“Your account ‘The Red Stapler Chronicles’ on
entrecard.com has been deleted. The administrator
gave the following reason:
Rule 10:

http://entrecard.com/docs/doku.php?id=blog_quality_standards

This http://redstaplechronicles.com is the URL on your profile page, and it is invalid.”

In other words, my account was deleted because of a typo (not having an r in stapler). Give me a break! My time is being wasted because someone can’t just simply correct a typo.

entrecard sucks

Getting over my anger, I head over to entrecard and attempt to solve the problem. But it gets better, I can’t find any profile page in which my URL is mis-spelled. I check ever possible link on my dashboard, but to no avail. As a result, I then email entrecard back asking them for the url of my incorrect profile page. There response–I guess I asked too many questions, because now my entire account is deleted and I can’t even log in (making it completely impossible for me to correct the typo).

Now I understand that Entrecard is going through some major changes and that they are trying to clean up some of the garbage blogs in their network. However, this is no excuse to treat their good customers like crap. Why couldn’t the person who discovered why my blog was deleted in the first place just have fixed the simple problem? Deleting accounts should be viewed as a consequence of last resort and should always be fully explained. Sorry, but I don’t buy the crap that it would take too much time to do this. In fact, I bet they would actually SAVE time by explaining their actions since someone now has to answer all the “why was my account deleted emails.”

I will keep you updated with any further updates in this Entrecard saga.

    WOW that’s so much BS

  2. Wow, indeed. That’s a total joke. I hate to say it, but Entrecard is going down hill quickly – mostly due to these kind of heavy handed actions by their staff.

Interesting, your widget still owrks and verifies the drop. And the EC toolbar lists the price to advertise. Have they reinstated you?

Thanks for the support whatabout and Dan!

It looks like my problem is nearly over. However, I certainly had to waste a lot of time to solve it.

No worry, Entrecard is only a trick, no value.
