Getting your Google Ranking Back
Perhaps I am crazy, but I check my Google rankings on certain searches every day. If you have not realized, rankings can change daily. Last week, I almost threw up when I couldn’t find my blog anywhere near the top 20 pages on searches where I used to live on the first page. However, today I found out that the Google Gods again approve me again and my search result rankings have been restored. How did I get Google to return my ranking? I must know someone who works for Google, right? Nope. Basically, I just asked. Here is what you should do if you abruptly lose your Google mojo–either Search Results or a lowered Page Ranking.

1. Go to google.com and click on “Business Solutions” underneath the search box.
2. Then click on Webmaster Central.
3. Next sign into Webmaster Tools.
4. At this point, if you have a gmail account you use that to sign in. Otherwise, you quickly sign up for a free gmail account.
5. You then have to add your site to your dashboard and then verify that you are the owner by adding a meta tag or uploading an html file to your blog.
6. After Google has verified your site, you click on “Request Reconsideration” from your dashboard.

7. Your last step is to simple fill out the form. Try to explain why you think you were pentalized and quote the Google terms of service and the quality guidelines as much as possible. Focus on the corrective measures that you have taken (be sure that you have already made these changes). Be humble, honest, and polite and cross your fingers. You will not be notified with a response either way, but with any luck, within two weeks, your Google juice can be restored.
