One of the more popular (and quite successful) ways to make money online is through the use of setting up niche websites. Basically, a niche website aims to get Google search traffic in order to get visitors to click on a Google adsense or some other type of ad from an affiliate network.

For a great example of a niche website (no, this is not mine), check out:

However, most newbies (like me) are a little apprehensive about investing $10 in a domain name that might or might not prove profitable. But don’t worry, I have a solution for you if you have a wordpress blog. This solution allows you to test out how strong a keyword will be and what type of ads might generate the most money. I am talking about creating Pages devoted to your targeted niche.

Pages allow you to play around with ads without completely alienating your readers. Could you imagine if I devoted a post to Superman villains on this blog. Most would question what type of crack I decided to smoke that day. On the other hand, having a page devoted to Superman villains would probably fit nicely on my right sidebar with some of my other experimental pages.

So if you have heard about niche websites and wondered if you could make money with them, I urge you to experiment by creating some pages. Maybe if you experience some success, you will be ready to make some investments to make some serious money.

  1. Quick Question.

I just started a new Website for my new Network Marketing Health Product, Enlyten

As any new site, I need links in and out. My concern is when I am linking out, do I need to be concerned with folks who use rel=”nofollow”. And will that really help them to get credit for the out link, but does not delute the pagerank?

    Thanks,

  2. That seems like a pretty sound idea to start a few niche pages and see how they develop. Of course, it would be most helpful to run those pages off the back of a website that already some strength in terms of visible presence in the search engines. It’s certainly worth thinking about because every now and then, I write about something a little off topic and get a boatload of traffic as a result. It’s usually if I mention something to do with sex though, haha.

If someone nofollows your link, it is virtually useless. Thus, if you are trading links with someone, you must insist that the link is dofollow.

  4. This is very useful article as the basic tactics of monetization. Liked it. Back-linking (Do-Follow) is very important for the traffic and leaping the Google page-ranks. I personally feel, if anyone is setting up a site to be live then he/she must have some know-how of SEO tools.

  5. Hello,

Specializing in certain topics rather than trying t blog about everything is the best way to build a loyal following, in this blogger’s opinion. I always recommend niche building techniques to business blogger even if their market is already narrow

I think you may want to research into hosting websites. If someone is serious about making money from niche content sites they will likely host each site on a virtual server with a unique domain name, perhaps using a word press blog or other blog system or even just using a plain html site.

  7. Niche marketing is all about an extremely targeted small number of people that have a need. If you can be there on the first page of Google or Yahoo and MSN and your page/site/blog can satisfy their need you make money. It might be an adsense click or an affiliate product. However, the problem with most people is that they don’t understand keyword research and how to write user friendly content and at the same time optimize it for the search engines. And of course - these days it’s all about links :)
